Crane Standard Programs

SafetyTech has created a training program to educate supervisors about these new standards to help ease the transition into compliance. This training is not for crane operator certification, or for rigger or signal person qualification, but to make contractors knowledgeable about the new standard as it relates to their work. The training is an 8-hour session, in English only, and is limited to 20 persons per session.

SafetyTech offers training for signal persons and riggers designed to meet the qualification requirements of 13 NCAC 07F.0900. This training is designed for experienced signal persons and riggers only. The training will be offered in English and Spanish, and is a 4-hour session for each class.

The signal person qualification training consists of formal classroom instruction, with a written or verbal test and a practical test of hand signals by the student. Successful completion of the testing is mandatory to meet the qualification requirements of the standard. Class size for signal persons is limited to 15 persons.

The rigger qualification training consists of formal classroom instruction, with a written or verbal test. Successful completion of the testing is mandatory to meet the qualification requirements of the standard. Class size for riggers is limited to 20 persons.

NC OSHA is enforcing these new regulations (with the exception of crane operator certification) NOW! Can you afford to be caught? Learn what you need to know to keep your company and your employees in compliance. Knowledge IS power.
New Crane Standards!

NC OSHA has incorporated a new set of standards (13 NCAC 07F.0900) that significantly changes the requirements for crane and derrick operations in the NC construction industry. These changes will affect anyone who uses a crane or derrick. It places strict training and documentation requirements for crane operators, signal persons, and riggers. These changes went into effect on October 1, 2009.
